Modern Plywood Christmas Tree DIY

Looking for modern alternative to traditional Christmas tree? Here you go - hygge Christmas tree from plywood. Simple and not expensive and easy to store and you will not be bothered about dropped needles that are catered all over the house from real Christmas tree.
This tutorial is for a 62 cm tall and 50 cm width Christmas tree. You can make any dimensions desired.
I decorated this tree with scented Christmas tree ornaments from MiLiCrafts.

MATERIALS:
  • Plywood sheet (4 x 500 x 760 mm)
  • 10 Wooden dowel pins (8 x 70 mm)
TOOLS:
  • Ruler
  • Pencil
  • Hand saw or jig saw
  • Drill with 8 mm drill bit
  • Sanding paper  (150 grit)

STEPS 1. Draw the cutting lines. 
  1. Draw the horizontal line in the middle of the sheet.
  2. Measure 55 cm from the top and draw the horizontal line.
  3. Draw the side lines.
  1. Draw the 7 x 20 cm tree stem.
  2. Draw two more 7 x 20 cm rectangles (it will be the support parts).
  3. You have a cutting lines (just eliminate the vertical center line). 
2. Cut out all the elements.

3. Measure and draw the cutting lines for support parts. 
  1. In the middle of stem parts draw the cutting lines for the slots. In the tree stem center draw 0.8 cm width line which has to be 7 cm tall. In the middle of support stem parts draw 3.5 cm lines (the cutting line is 0.4 cm width).
  2. Cut out the joining slots.
  3. Try to join the tree and see if it joins smoothly.
4. Sand all the edges of the cut out.

5. Mark and drill the holes for dowel pins. 
  1. Measure and mark the drilling points.
  2. Drill the holes.
  3. Sand the cut out holes.
  4. Put in the pins. 
6. Assemble and enjoy your Christmas tree.

Angels. Just angels in our life.

An angel is generally a supernatural being found in various religions and mythologies.
It's very popular symbol in all kind of art. 
By the late 4th century, the Church Fathers agreed that there were different categories of angels, with appropriate missions and activities assigned to them. There was, however, some disagreement regarding the nature of angels. Some argued that angels had physical bodies, while some maintained that they were entirely spiritual. Some theologians had proposed that angels were not divine but on the level of immaterial beings subordinate to the Trinity. The resolution of this Trinitarian dispute included the development of doctrine about angels.
Angels are one of the favorite Christmas ornaments. Christmas angels usually appear on top of Christmas trees, representing their role in the holiday celebrating the birth of Jesus.
Angel ornaments, statues, art, and jewelry can be found literally everywhere you go. There is no coincidence that these angelic delights appear to you within your daily life. Finding angel objects or receiving angel objects can be a gentle nudge from your guardian angel to let you know that they want to connect with you.
Angel objects are signs that your guardian angel is around you. Any kind of angelic object, statue, ornament, or jewelry will hold a positive high vibration of light energy. This is because of the powerful mass belief (consciousness) in the goodness of angel beings as a divine force.
The angelic message of receiving any type of angel object is that you are being divinely protected by your guardian angel and other angelic beings.

Linen care. How to soften this fabric.

Linen fabric has been used for table coverings, bed coverings and clothing for centuries. Is is much stronger and smoother than cotton and there are only few things to know in order for your linen textile or clothes to last a long time. We have already written a post about why linen is eco-friendly, so you can read that as well.

So what about linen care? Linen has a tendency to wrinkle easily, especially when it's new. We recommend to iron it on full heat when it's still damp, or use a lot of steam while ironing.

Slightly used linen feels soft and supple, while brand new linen may feel stiff and harsh if it is not special treated during the production process. A lot of sellers use softened linen fabrics for their production.

Actually, with each washing, linen becomes softer and more absorbent. This fabric is washable up to 90°C, but we recommend up to 60°C. It may seem like it would be scratchy, sometimes, because of the texture, but unlike wool it doesn’t give you the itches. The results of softening depend on how the linen fabric was originally manufactured. Weight can be a factor of how firm the fabric is, but you can speed up the softening process without damaging the fabric.

Before washing your linen, always check the manufacturer's suggestions for care. Most linen is best washed in cool or warm water in the gentle cycle and dried on low heat. If your linen has been pre-washed and preshrunk, you may be able to dry it on a higher heat setting. Feel free to machine dry your linen clothes or textile if you have one – just be sure to use cool temperatures and remove when still slightly damp, because over drying can make linen stiff and crackly. When removed from the dryer linen items can be hanged on a hanger or lied flat to fully dry.

Traditional fabric softeners may not work well on linen fabric; plus, they may add a chemical residue or a scent that you don't want. An option for a natural fabric softening method is adding a solution of 1/2 cup of baking soda or 1 cup of vinegar to the wash. You can soak the linen overnight in a stronger solution of 1 cup of vinegar to 1 gallon of water before washing. Use dryer balls during the drying cycle, because once again, you're trying to increase friction.

It's so pleasure to introduce new and so magic shop :) Just opened but very successful and they are from Etsy Lithuania Team too.
Here is the WizardsCave shop and them story...
 We know that even greatest magic can hide in the smallest things.
We are couple that loves creating and exploring new things. Most of our inspiration comes from nature: Wild forests, beaches, rivers, ancient myths and magic. We use different techniques and materials to make our products. Most of our goods are collected from sandy beaches of Baltic sea, deep and dark forests in Lithuania, or recycled from other things to give them second life.
Items we make is unique and there will be no same item in the world, our shop is small and it is because we do not make huge amount of things. Each little piece first created in head, then drafted on paper and finally made by hands using lots of love and skills, such as pyrography, carving wood, engraving stone, leather working, flint knapping and more.

This time we would like to introduce you Adelė, doll maker and artist in her twenties, living in Lithuania – the land of possibilities where she can create dolls and make a living from it! 
And here is her story...

Almost 4 years ago I became a part of the magical world of art dolls. My journey began in Vilnius art academy where I studied set design and puppet theatre. While studying was a great adventure, in real life after a few plays as a set designer, I knew that this path is not for me so I plunged myself into interior dolls. At that time I couldn’t imagine how my life will change after this decision. And here I am, talking to you as a full time artist, who’s building her career from ground up. I guess anything is possible, huh?
My dolls are more than just a decoration, because everyone of them have a story to tell. I bring a unique tale in a little creature. Every costume, every lock of hair, every tiny detail is telling you how special and exclusive this art doll is. I love the feeling when the doll is completed, wrapped up with a ribbon and a hand written story. It’s like another page added to my creation journey. I hope that you can see and feel the same passion, joy and love for life in my dolls like I do.
